The rule across Sharjah
No Sharjah government body publishes any position on dogs or pets at public beaches that we have been able to find. We checked Sharjah City Municipality, Khorfakkan City Municipality, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority's beach pages, Shurooq (which built and runs Khorfakkan Beach), and the emirate's legislation portal, in Arabic and English. None of them addresses animals on beaches either way. That is not the same as a ban, and it is not permission: it means the question is genuinely unanswered in public, and anyone telling you otherwise about Sharjah is not citing Sharjah.

What applies at any Sharjah beach
Three rules hold wherever you take a dog in the UAE, whatever an individual beach permits.
Breed restrictions are federal. Under Federal Law No. 22 of 2016 several breeds are classed as dangerous animals nationwide, including pit bull types, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers and Boxers. No individual beach in Sharjah can waive that, and a beach describing itself as dog-friendly is not making a statement about your breed.
Assume a leash. Where we cannot confirm a beach’s own rule, the safe default is a lead, and it is what every unconfirmed page on this site tells you to do. A confirmed off-leash beach is the exception rather than the norm.
The season decides more than the beach does. The UAE beach season runs October to April. Outside it, sunrise or after sunset only, and the sand is the hazard rather than the air — press the back of your hand to it for five seconds before letting a dog walk on it.
Questions
Taking a dog to a beach in Sharjah
Are dogs allowed on beaches in Sharjah?
We document 1 beach in Sharjah where dogs are reported to be allowed. None of them is officially designated — all are tolerated rather than formally invited. Access rules are set per beach, so check the one you are driving to.
Which Sharjah beaches let dogs swim?
No beach in Sharjah has a confirmed report that dogs may enter the water. That is an open question rather than a "no" — allowing dogs on the sand and allowing them in the sea are separate permissions, and nobody has published the second one for this emirate.
Do dogs need to be on a leash at Sharjah beaches?
Assume yes. No Sharjah beach we document has a confirmed off-leash report, and Dubai requires a collar and leash in any public place under Article (80) of Local Order No. (11) of 2003. Several guides list off-leash beaches we cannot substantiate, so we publish only the count we can stand behind.
Are there free dog-friendly beaches in Sharjah?
Yes — 1 beach in Sharjah has confirmed free entry, out of 1 documented. Paid beaches here are generally resort or private stretches that charge per dog as well as per person; where an operator has stated a fee, it is on that beach's page.
How many beaches are there in Sharjah?
We document 1 beach in Sharjah — that is the number relevant to dog owners, counted from our own sourced corpus, not a register of every stretch of sand in the emirate. Abu Dhabi in particular has large public beaches where dogs are prohibited by emirate rule, and those appear here precisely so the "no" is on record rather than left as a surprise at the gate.
Are beaches in Sharjah free?
1 beach of the 1 we document in Sharjah has confirmed free entry. The rest are gated, resort or private stretches — several charge per dog as well as per person, and one charges AED 75 for the dog alone, so "beach" and "free" do not travel together in this emirate. Each beach's page states its fee and what stated it.

What we have not confirmed in Sharjah
These are the gaps as of the date at the top of this page. They are listed rather than filled, and each one is a question a visitor can close for everybody.
- Whether dogs may go in the water — open on 1 of 1.
- When the beach is actually open — open on 1 of 1.
- Sources disagree about this beach. Both versions are shown on the beach page, and neither is presented as settled.
- It has no primary confirmation — an official source, or two independent dated reports that agree.

Been to a beach in Sharjah recently?
Most of what is still missing above can only be answered by somebody who was standing there. Any one of these helps.
- What times was the beach actually open?
- Were dogs on leads, or running free?
- What did you pay at the gate, for you and for the dog?
